We were hit by a huge earthquake here 2 weeks ago.

People are stressing out, Japan is un-safe to travel too.

Well maybe i the disaster zones up north but not Tokyo. I wat to tell you all "what does the media know?" Doubt everyone who works for CNN lives in Japan. I live here and seen it all. At times people were panicking and buying out toilet paper, bread and rice. Now things are lined up at covinience stores and supermarkets regulary.

Because of the buclear plant ain't working Japan is suffering from electricity. That's true.

We are going through scheduled blackouts which runs during the day. But that's just in the suburbs of Tokyo, Sitama, Ibaragi and Chiba.

Shibuya and all the major suburbs will never be blacked out. Ofcourse Japaese are carig people so we are saving power, shops have their heaters off, shops will shut at 6 (normally 8), all major monitors around the city have them off.

If your planning to travel to Japan, or Tokyo, it is fucking fine. I wont recommened you to go up north but Tokyo is just the same.

Don't be afraid.

If your gonna cancel your trip to Japan, donate all that money to Red Cross Japan.

Last Friday, the north east part of Japan got hit by a magnitude 9.0 earthquake.
Since then there has been lots of bad and sad news... Nuclear plants blowing up, Tsunami's, masses of dead bodies been washed up etc...
We only hear negative news hear and from all around the world.
People are starting to freak out here in Tokyo, people buying out the supermarkets and convenience stores with food and general supplies.

Dan who is a fashionista blogger here in Tokyo wrote up a great article about this saga that has been going on here in Tokyo and Japan.

"Life in Tokyo Right Now"

So much has happened in Japan in the past 7 days that is going to take so long to try and comprehend. The word disaster doesn’t seem strong enough. I just want to address the current situation here in Tokyo. International press are calling the city a ‘ghost town’, saying we are out of food and water, have no supplies, are fleeing. British news papers are going with the headline ‘GET OUT OF TOKYO NOW’ quoting the British Embassy here. Whilst it’s true the Embassy has encouraged people to CONSIDER leaving, this is due to the problems with logistics and infrastructure and not any threat of radiation. Boats can’t dock due to damaged ports, some countries don’t want to dock, and people here in Tokyo are bulk buying due to the chance of further earthquakes.

You wouldn’t blame us for wanting to leave. Less than a week ago our world was literally shaken and it has continued to shake since. Add to that the uncertainty of the nuclear situation and the most hardy of us are bound to want a change of scenery. The most frustrating thing for some is the lack of a trustworthy and reliable news source. Our mass media culture offers an abundance of information but in this case it’s simply too much. The Japanese government, TEPCO, foreign news agencies, embassies, news papers, worried friends, re-tweets and facebook statuses are all stirred in a pot with a large dose of poisonous tabloid hysteria.

Tokyo is doing OK. Those who want to leave have been able to, whether that be elsewhere in Japan or overseas. Lot’s of people are going about there lives as normal, there are markedly less people out on the streets but the streets are definitely not empty. Bread and rice sells out quickly, as does water, but stocks are being replenished. The top few photos below were taken yesterday in Shibuya where i met with some mates and had a few drinks. Just now I read some shocking reports on the lack of food here in Tokyo so I went on a 10 minute wander around my house to see how things were. If your not familiar with Tokyo, it’s a huge sprawling megalopolis with hundreds if not thousands of mini-central business districts around each station. I live in Meidaimae which is 7 minutes from two of the huge main hubs, Shibuya and Shinjuku. Whilst this may be the situation at my station, it could be completely different at a station 2 minutes away, i am aware of that, but this is how things are for me. TESCO is open and has loads of fruit and veg and even cans of baked beans. Convenience stores have any drink you could imagine and more, girls who’ve just finished school are picking out cakes and at the station trains are running normally with the usual amount of commuters on the platform. The drug store has water and everything else you would expect, other supermarkets are open and fully stocked and the usual cast of Japanese boys are stood reading questionable manga in Convini’ windows. THIS IS NOT A GHOST TOWN. How dare you call Tokyo a town this is one of the greatest cities in the world. Shame on the media that continues to make a drama out of a very human crisis.

Now compare the photos above to these from the North of Japan. The cars that we saw being tossed around had people in them. As did the houses. Whilst we worry about fuel for cars Miyagi have said they have run out of fuel for burning the bodies that lie in pools of water and debris in what were once towns of thousands. It’s snowing and cold, kids have no blankets, people have lost everything.

I’m no fucking Bono but please direct your concern to these people in desperate need. Japan has given so much to the world in terms of business, technology, art, fashion and culture. It’s time to give back. I mean this especially for brands and businesses. So many people tell me how much they love Japan, Japan needs our love right now so let’s show Japan just how much love we have.

Major sporting brand NIKE has bought out the infamous park in Shibuya called Miyashita Koen.

This place was a mess until last November.

Trees were growing out of control, rubbish, grass also growing out of control.

All the home-less people were ejoying living here, they had a great community going, although once they found out that NIKE bought the land, they werent to happy.

If you were on the train headig to Harajuku from Shibuya you will see big banners saying "NO NIKE".

To tell you the truth, I can't stand on either peoples side but I am quite happy that NIKE are bulding somethig productive.

I'm sure this is going to build the population for people who skate and the level of skateboarding in Tokyo.

And also I can go skate on my lunch breaks and afterwork.

About a week ago, WeSC got invited to hold a booth at this skate jam in Kawasaki.
This was for a wedding after party for a guy called Aki Akiyama.
Name sounded familiar... Oh yeah I'm Akiyama as well...
Well no I didn't know who this guy was till I found out he was the first professional skateboarder of Japan.
He is in the Dog Town era, strictly bowl, ramp and a freestyle skater.
His brother Katsu, holds the Japanese record for the most free spins.
He is the Zephyre of Japan and a legend of Japan and I feel very special to be invited to this special occasion.

On the 2nd of November, surfing had lost one of it's most valuable surfers.
His name was Andy Irons, 3 time world champion from Kauai, Hawaii.
I always liked his style, he sounded like a douche in some of his movies but I guess that was his mentality of not giving a shit and trying to reach his goal.
Seems like all the surfers say he was a nice cool dude as well.
I was only judging...
It's a shame that I won't be able to see his surfing ever again.

Today I went to visit Shinjuku Gyoen.
Dead center of Tokyo, the only place you can feel free and feel peace.
Today was such a nice day, the sun was out, beer tasted great during the day and most of all my girl made hot dogs for the picnic.
I will suggest everyone to check this place out if you're in Tokyo.
Take some beers down, bring some cheese and crackers, few mates, and you're set.
Highly recommended!!!

Last night was halloween weekend Day 1:
There was about 10 parties in Tokyo though I only got to goto one of 2 them... One of them was a release party of be@rbrick collaboration with Jeff Soto and MAXX242. Artists for FSAS, Wild Ones and REAL Skateboards.
To commemorate the event, organizers had invited Japanese top skaters to demonstrate the S.K.A.T.E. game just like the berrics...

Last Friday I went to one of the shows for the Tokyo Fashion Week.
This year there were a lot of new and underground designers.
The one I went to was a graduate of VANTAN (a famous design school) college in Tokyo.
Her name is Aguri Sagimori.
A contemporary designer.　Definitely not my cup of tea but it was a great experience to see this kind of a show.

Yesterday, there was a massive demo out on Meiji dori infront of my store in Harajuku.
It was a demo against animal cruelty.
On the other side of my store there is Burberry Blue Label.
All the protesters stopped and and yelled "NO FUR". *copped a beating...
I totally agree on this. You may look rich and fucking cool but think about where that coat came from. Ofcourse I like wearing leather/suede shoes but this kinda gave me time to rethink about the process of making these products just for our looks.
Although I have a question to all these protesters...
Can you show me your purse/wallet? What are your shoes made out of? and what is your bag and hand bag made out of?
Hope they ain't all animal products...

If you have been on the Yamanote Line lately and have travelled between Harajuku and Shibuya, you might have seen big banners saying "Say No To Nike".

It's because Nike has bought out Miyashita Koen on Meiji Dori in Shibuya.

Nike is planning to change the park into a sporing complex including a skate park, footsal field, etc...
kinda like Venice Beach.

Current situation of Miyashita Koen is dirty, filthy and suss. Filled with homeless people and junk.
I guess it is a good idea to brighten up the area though poor homeless people because they got kicked out of there habitat.

So on September 8th, I joined the Swedish big hitters WeSC pronounced Wii-Es-See, We are the Superlative Conspiracy in Tokyo.
The only store and flagship store here in Japan.
I am very proud to be a part of this as I love the whole concept of the brand "Life after Skateboarding" and Swedish girls.
Shop is located in between Shibuya and Harajuku station on Meiji Dori infront of W-Base and Carnival.
Tonight we all got together after work and had few brewskies, wine and pizza.
If your in Tokyo its a must visit shop, and fuck the Australian distributor who decided to put the brand in Myer.

This time I went to UC (Harajuku) for Naoki's event MONK.
He created this event for people to meet other people in other industry.
The usual suspects were there like, Sonpub (He entered a DIM MAK mix comps so pray for his success), then Shin (as usual he was drunk) Guys from Challengerworks.com, and Small Naoki from artworx which they distribute Joy Rich here in Japan.

Next headed to Le Baron de Paris to celebrate Ogushi san's birthday.
Oguchi san is the main man of The North Face JPN.

Then jumped around few more clubs then finished it off at Club Asia Shibuya.
Hanging with Dabo, Nycca (Japanese, Chinese, English rapper), Yusuke san (ex-Nitro manager), then some ladies and I had to goto work...

Was a interesting movie so should check it out.

So finally managed to score a day off and party.
Seems so long...
This party I went to was put on by Naoki, my master of Tokyo.
He puts this party on every now and then and happily made it to the 7th one and is thinking to bringing it to Australia... what?!
Keep that aside, music was brought by Sonpub, Wise (Teriyaki Boys), DJ Jedi (Dub store records), Kango (Roc Trax), ITOOO(COLORFARM/eyeTOKYO)、FYS a.k.a BINGO and the man him self Hiroto da Yankeee from Osaka (funniest dude ever).
A massive line up with a great sound, and ofcourse plenty of cute Tokyo girls...

P.S. DJ Jedi is one of the top hitting star wars collector in Japan.
He possibly fits in the top five of collectors.
Soon I'll be visiting his house for an report.

This is America Yoko-cho aka. Ame Yoko.
Located between Okachimachi and Ueno on Yamanote Line.
A very historic place (apparently).
Basically this place is a better Paddy's market.
You can find clothes to food to fresh sea food to karaoke to Chinese tourists.
A must go place if you visit Tokyo.
This place is right near Ueno park, where you find most of Tokyo's homeless's. Japan going through financial crisis, you way to many homeless people for such a so called "rich country".
You can actually see the global economy crisis happening here in Tokyo/Japan.
On the bright side, theres a zoo here.
I think it was the first Japanese zoo to have a panda or someshit, and infront of Ueno station you'll find a giant panda thing...
I think Nike made a pair of dunks called the "Ueno Panda"... There you go!
Anyhow, journey has only begun.

Last night was the opening night of the 1st WeSc store here in Japan.
They scored themselves a nice position right on Meiji Dori, towards Shibuya.
WeSc, a Swedish brand which has a concept of "Life after skateboarding".
More cleaner cut denim including Japanese selvedge denim, cleaner graffic tees, nice botton downs and highly expected collabo with "The Berricks".
You may have seen these guys in Myer (yes, sell out but the brand manager knew the Aus distributor is doing something wrong) and few skate shops around Sydney who are keeping it real.
Ofcourse free booze, celebs, DJ, plenty of sexy ladies including halfy models (like me ha) and straight up Euro models.
Very fun night, then down the road was The North Face Standard opening night.
A delightful night in Tokyo due to GW (Golden Week - a massive 10day public holiday scheme) starting today.

Yesterday I met up with a old school friend.
He showed me his uni, and had lunch at the school canteen, then headed into Ikebukuro (IWGP) to have dinner and few brewskies.
After dinner I went into Shibuya to meet up with Naoki and co. to head to Le Baron de Paris.
I really wanted to come to this club at least once in my life time but after last night I don't know if I'd go back there again due to poor sound and mega expensive drinks. Remind you the girls were all pretty much models...
It ended up being some night here at Le Baron called COLORFARMNIGHT.
Guest DJ by the infamous Big-O from Swagger, and manage to hear the Dexpistols x Jon-E New jack House live which was pretty cool.
After we realised that this places was dying down, we left to Velour, another hidden club in Aoyama area.
I forgot to take my SD card yesterday so here are some shitty shots from my mobile of Big-O spinning the decks.

Studio 55 A Go Go @ Womb

So last Friday I went to a party held at Womb in Shibuya, which was hosted by 55 DSL. For those who aren't familiar with 55 DSL you could just say it's a sister brand of Diesel but better. You wont see Chritiano Ronaldo or David Beckham rocking this shit... But you might...
Anyways, this was a rad party.
Everyone from Tokyo fashion industry was here yet there was no "who the fuck are you?" vibe as you do get back home.
Manage to score a press pass (Japan is real strict with photos in clubs) from Jommy (55DSL) so I went crazy with the photos.
The main event here were the C-Boyz. An old school skate crew from Tokyo.
They weren't really good but they new how to throw the crowd up in the air by their stupitity.
